NOC for international students in Nepal
If you are a student planning to study abroad, you may have heard of the term NOC (No Objection Certificate). This is a document issued by the Ministry of Education (MOE) confirming that a student is eligible to study abroad. NOC Nepal serves as proof that the student has met all the necessary requirements and has received approval to study abroad from the relevant authorities.
Obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) means that you are officially authorized by the Nepali government to study in another country. This allows you to make payments to foreign universities listed in your NOC. If you want to pay your school fees, you have to provide your NOC to the bank. Payments can only be made to specific institutions listed in the NOC.
If you want to pay for more than one institution or study in more than one country, you will need a separate NOC for each. An NOC is also required when exchanging Nepali Rupee (NPR) to other foreign currencies.
Required Documents
To apply for a NOC application in Nepal, you need to provide the following documents:
- A copy of your citizenship certificate or passport
- A copy of the letter of acceptance from the university you will be attending
- A copy of your academic certificates and transcripts
- Passport-size photographs
To obtain a NOC in Nepal, you need to follow these steps:
- Gather all the documents listed above.
- You can download the application form from the MOEST website, or obtain it from the MOEST, Sano Thimi, Bhaktapur and Fill out the application form with the required information.
- Verify your application form and documents at Window.
- Pay the fees (NRP 2,000) at Window.
- Submit your documents to Window 4 and get a token number.
- Collect your NOC at Window 6.

- Visit the official website at https://noc.moest.gov.np/ and click on “Sign Up” with your email address or phone number.
- Fill out the online NOC application form with your personal details and attach all the required documents.
- Pay the application fee (NRP 2000).
- Submit the application form and wait for verification.
